Sausage patties with peppered egg noodles

Fully cooked sausage patties turn into a quick weeknight dinner when tossed with buttered egg noodles and a whisper of garlic. The patties warm through while the pasta cooks, leaving you time to clear the table.

Serves 2. 25 minutes, 10 at the stove.

  • 8 patties Jimmy Dean fully cooked pork sausage patties

Staples

  • 8 ounces egg noodles pasta
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • to taste salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper

  1. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and add 8 ounces of egg noodles, stirring to separate them. Cook until tender, about 8 minutes, then drain and set aside.
  2. While the noodles cook, slice 2 cloves of garlic thin. Heat 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium heat, add the garlic, and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  3. Cut each of the 8 sausage patties in half and add them to the skillet, stirring gently to warm through, about 3 minutes. Add the cooked noodles to the pan and toss to coat with the butter and garlic.
  4. Season with salt and 1/2 teaspoon of pepper to taste. Divide between two plates and serve at once.

Note Swap the egg noodles for rice or any pasta shape on hand. Leftovers keep three days refrigerated; reheat gently in a skillet with a splash of water. Serve with a green salad or steamed vegetables on the side.
