Warm chocolate chip cookies with ice cream

A shelf full of cookie dough that wants only heat and time to become dinner. Bake the cookies while you finish a salad or pour wine; serve them warm with ice cream to make an adults-only dessert that tastes like you spent the evening in the kitchen.

You need

To buy

  • 1 pint ice cream

From your shelf

  • 1 package chocolate chip ready to bake cookie dough

Staples

  • to taste salt

  1. Heat your oven to 350°F [175°C]. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or leave it bare if nonstick. Scoop the dough into 6 cookies, spacing them 2 inches apart on the sheet.
  2. Bake until the edges are set but the centres still look slightly underbaked, about 12 to 14 minutes. The cookies will firm as they cool.
  3. Let the cookies cool on the sheet for 2 minutes, then transfer to plates. Top each with a scoop of ice cream while the cookies are still warm.

Note Serve with strong coffee or dessert wine. Leftover cookies keep in an airtight container for three days and rewarm in a 300°F [150°C] oven for two minutes. A green salad with lemon vinaigrette balances the richness.
