You need

To buy

  • 4 thick slices bread

From your shelf

  • 6 ounces [170g] brown sugar & cinnamon cream cheese spread

Staples

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • pinch salt

  1. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Butter 4 thick slices of bread on one side, sprinkle with a pinch of salt, and place buttered side down in the hot skillet. Toast until golden and crisp, about 2 minutes.
  2. Flip the toast and spread 1.5 ounces [42g] of the brown sugar cinnamon cream cheese spread on each warm slice, dividing it evenly. Let it melt into the toast for 1 minute while the other side crisps.
  3. Transfer to plates and serve warm.

Note Swap in brioche or challah for a more tender crumb. Leftovers keep in an airtight container for one day; warm gently before eating. Serve with fresh fruit, yogurt, or a small salad of bitter greens to balance the sweetness.
