Glazed chicken thighs with barbecue sauce

Skin-on chicken thighs get a sticky barbecue glaze that caramelizes in the oven while you rest from the day. This shelf has the only sauce you need, so dinner comes together in one sheet pan with almost no hands-on time.

You need

To buy

  • 4 thighs (about 1.5 pounds) bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs

From your shelf

  • 3/4 cup [180 ml] slow-simmered sweet honey barbecue sauce, sweet honey (Kraft)

Staples

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon oil

  1. Heat your oven to 425°F [220°C]. Pat 4 bone-in chicken thighs dry with paper towels and season them on both sides with 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper.
  2. Coat a sheet pan with 1 tablespoon oil and set the chicken skin-side up on the pan. Roast for 15 minutes until the skin is golden and the internal temperature reaches 165°F [74°C] at the thickest part of the thigh.
  3. Remove the pan from the oven, brush each thigh with 3 tablespoons of the barbecue sauce total, and return to the oven for 8 minutes until the glaze is sticky and caramelized.

Note Swap bone-in thighs for bone-in, skin-on chicken breasts if you prefer white meat; add two minutes to the initial roast. Leftovers keep in an airtight container for three days; reheat gently in a low oven. Serve with coleslaw and rice or cornbread to soak up the glaze.
